“You always leave the Rosary for later, and you end up not saying it at all because you are sleepy. If there is no other time, say it in the street without letting anybody notice it. It will, moreover, help you to have presence of God.” ― St. Josemaria Escriva
Raise your hand if you have ever said you would do something later but then you never did it. I think it's pretty safe to assume that everyone reading this (including myself) has their hand raised. Now keep your hand raised if the thing you were supposed to do was actually really important and the fact that you never did it had a pretty serious domino effect. Maybe you never got that oil change in your car that you were supposed to have done 3 months ago, and now you're broken down on the side of the road with a car full of sludge. By that point you're probably really wishing you didn't put off that really important task of getting your oil changed. When it comes to the important things in life, it's vital to know that there is nothing more important you can do than strengthen your relationship with God through prayer, because from that relationship, all else flows. Prayer provides us with clarity in our priorities, knowledge of our true identity as children of God, strength in difficult times, charity in how we treat others, and more virtue and graces than could ever be listed. Now imagine the domino effect that you will one day look back on as you stand before God and, with the clearest vision, can see the results of all those times you decided to push prayer off for later....and later never came. Without prayer, we have no knowledge of God's presence in our lives. Through the recitation of the Rosary, we come closer to the heart of Jesus as Mary intercedes on our behalf because she is especially close to God. She is more aware of what it means to have God present in your life than any other human. Mary is like our personal GPS, providing us with the most direct route to the heart of Jesus. If there is any prayer that should not be put off, it is the rosary. So rather than putting it off for later, you should start your rosary right now.
Take some time to list out your daily routine and priorities. What part of your daily routine can be rearranged so that you can carve out time to make prayer a priority?
